Starting from Scratch
Your home is your sanctuary, a place you make memories with family and friends. But what happens when it goes up in smoke?
That is exactly what happened to a couple who reached out to Decorators Unlimited for help after their entire home and belongings were destroyed in a devastating fire. Fortunately, no one was hurt, but they had to start from scratch.
Our interior designer, Alexis Venanzi, teamed up with Ellish Builders and RWD/Linares Architecture to restore the home.
With the house gutted down to the block walls, we could modernize the architecture. We repurposed the former formal dining room into a bar, spacious pantry, and butler area.
For the kitchen, we installed wood and glossy taupe cabinetry, Taj Mahal quartzite countertops and backsplash, and a workstation sink.
The master bathroom became his and her space with two showers and a grand tub area. “To me, it feels like a Grecian palace,” said Venanzi. We also transformed the fourth bedroom into a home office.
Most important to the homeowners was to ensure the “homey” feeling never left. “Once you lose everything, you would hate to walk into your new home, and it feels sterile or unlivable.” Therefore, we kept all tones warm and welcoming.
“I am beyond grateful to have assisted in this renovation to help bring them back home. Reasons like this, you love what you do.”
