Design Principles of Organic Modern Style

The living space of the home, both inside and out, was thoughtfully imagined by The Decorators Unlimited in an Organic Modern style. The space features statement lighting and curated art, which designer Jennifer Clark thoughtfully selected to evoke a modern, organic feel. A calming, neutral color palette and rich textures juxtapose the clean lines of the modern architecture. Organic Modern style is inspired by nature, creating a soothing and balanced aesthetic. The furniture features curved lines and organic forms, covered in textured fabrics and supple leathers. Luxury finishes, including sleek stone fireplaces, are a key design element throughout the home.

Lots of Light

Movable walls of glass, large windows, and open layouts are essential for flooding the home with natural light and providing a connection to the natural landscape, as well as a sense of well-being. A strong connection to the outdoors is a key principle of the Organic Modern style.

Abundant Greenery

To create a connected-to-nature interior, lush greenery is a must-have element. Sculptural plants, such as fiddle-leaf figs, succulents, and monstera, add texture and bring a sense of life to the space.

A Warm Palette

A foundation of neutral tones, such as creamy whites, warm neutrals, and soft browns, is often complemented by deeper, nature-inspired colors, including rust, olive green, or terracotta. These earth-inspired tones are frequently used for subtle contrast, allowing for a harmonious blend in the space.

Minimalist Furniture

While modernism features clean lines, the Organic Modern design of this home incorporates curved furniture pieces that mimic natural shapes. The furniture is ideal for entertaining and functional living, featuring low-profile silhouettes crafted from natural materials.

Natural Materials

At the heart of Organic Modern design lies a deep appreciation for inspiration from nature. The style emphasizes materials that are organic in shape and natural in appearance. Wood, stone, linen, jute, cotton, and other sustainable or natural materials are used extensively throughout the home.

Textured Textiles

Layers of natural fibers, such as linen, cotton, and jute, add an earthy vibe. Warm-toned textured wallpapers, natural fiber rugs, and boucle fabrics add depth to the space. With a minimalist approach, the variety of layered textures complements the modern architecture.

Warm Wood

Light-toned woods, such as oak or walnut, are extensively incorporated in the interior design through furniture, flooring, ceiling details, wall accents, decor, and artwork, adding a layer of warmth to the design.

Luxe Stone

Inspired by the exterior architecture, stone in its raw or polished form, including quartzite, marble, and limestone, adds a grounded elegance to countertops, backsplashes, fireplaces, and furniture.
