Florida Design magazine recently featured this 8,000 sq ft modern masterpiece on exclusive Hypoluxo Island in South Florida. The waterfront home includes five bedrooms, six-and-a-half baths, and a separate poolside building with a sleek kitchen and gym. The design theme of this modern home is inspired by simple geometry, featuring a graphic rectangular shape and highlighted by vertical lines that flow throughout the residence. The owner’s wishlist included must-have custom-designed features and one-of-a-kind details with a “museum-like and super-clean” look.

The overall palette is striking: black, white, and taupe with a few touches of green. The design team at The Decorators Unlimited felt it was paramount to add organic finishes and natural elements to the architecture’s modern lines. White porcelain slabs cover most of the residence, both inside and out, providing a flow and consistency. In the main connecting hallway, framed by glass and black steel, the flooring strikes a “particular note of elegance”. A black-framed spiral staircase connects the home’s three main levels; an accent wall resembling a black lava formation is featured in the office; and an organic tree sculpture sits in the primary bedroom. Many of the furnishings reflect natural shapes, such as river rocks, clouds, and mountains. Large free-form sculptures anchor the pool area. Visible from almost every angle, the meditation garden and the large reflecting pool in the center of the home’s living room create a calming atmosphere.
