There are always obstacles to overcome when designing a home; however, our team had to conquer an additional one when the clients, who are Canadian, could not travel for the duration of the project due to COVID.
As a result, extensive collaboration between The Decorators Unlimited, Affiniti Architects, and Ocean Blue Custom Homes was required to guide the clients through the process. From mailing material packages to holding countless Zoom sessions, the team came together to create a home that brought the outside in and exceeded the clients’ expectations.
Pops of color on the interior were achieved through the use of glass and on the exterior with the use of aluminum. Walnut cladding on the exterior was carried into the interior with mixtures of wood materials. As the homeowners swap Canadian winters for South Florida winters, the vision was to keep things light, bright, and natural.
The materials needed to be durable to accommodate a most important resident, a gentle giant named Theo, a 200-pound Newfoundland dog. And for a most important human resident, a functioning home office was a must so he could continue conducting business when thousands of miles away from his main office.
Thanks to a lot of coordination and communication, we love how this house turned out. From beginning to end, we enjoyed working on this project with the homeowners, but the best part is witnessing the joy the new home brings them.
